Editorial and accuracy policy
People read our guides when their pet is missing. A wrong phone number or address costs them time they don’t have. This is how we keep our information accurate.
Where our information comes from
- Shelter addresses, phone numbers, hours, hold periods and reporting methods come from each county or shelter’s own website. Every local page lists its sources and the month it was last checked.
- When an agency doesn’t publish something, such as a stray hold period, we say so rather than guess.
- Statistics come from published research, linked where we use them.
What we don’t do
- We don’t promise or imply that any service, including ours, will find your pet.
- We don’t publish reunion stories without the owner’s permission, and we confirm the details with them first.
- We link to free tools, including other lost pet services, when they would help you.
Corrections
If something on our site is wrong or out of date, email help@findapaw.com. We fix confirmed errors as quickly as we can and update the “last checked” date on the page.
Who we are
Find a Paw creates and runs targeted Facebook and Instagram alerts for missing pets. We are an advertising service: we do not search for pets ourselves. More about us.
