Privacy Policy

Protecting your information matters to us, and this policy explains exactly what we collect and where it goes. It applies to findapaw.com and to the Find a Paw advertising service.

The short version. We collect your pet's details, a photo, the last-seen location and your contact details. We publish those in a Facebook advertisement so people near you can recognise your pet and reach you. We never see or store your card number. We don't sell your information to anyone.

What we collect

About your pet: name, species, description, the photo you upload, the location it was last seen, and the date if you give one.

About you: your email address, your phone number, and your name if you give it.

About your payment: nothing. Payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own systems and never reach our servers. We receive only a transaction reference and the amount paid.

Automatically: standard web analytics, and a one-way hash of your IP address used to limit abuse of our forms. We do not store your raw IP address alongside your order.

What we publish

This is the part that matters most, so we want to be plain about it.

Your pet's photo, description, last-seen location and the contact details you provide are published in an advertisement shown to the public on Facebook and Instagram. That is the service you are buying. To deliver it we share that information with Meta Platforms, Inc.

If you would rather your phone number were not public, leave the phone field blank and we will show your email address instead. If you would rather not publish an exact street address, enter cross streets or a nearby landmark.

How we use your information

To create and run your advertisement.
To send your order confirmation, your flyer, and updates about your campaign.
To answer you when you contact us.
To keep accounting records and handle any payment dispute.

We may email you about your order at any time. We will not add you to a marketing list without asking.

Who we share it with

Meta Platforms, Inc., to create and run your advertisement.
Stripe, Inc., to process your payment.
Our email provider, to send your confirmation and flyer.
Law enforcement or a court, where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety.

We do not sell, rent or lease your personal information. We do not share it with data brokers or unrelated advertisers.

How long we keep it

We keep your order record, including your pet's photo and your contact details, for 24 months after your campaign ends, so we can handle payment disputes and meet our accounting obligations. After that it is deleted.

You can ask us to delete it sooner. See below.

Your rights

Email help@findapaw.com and we will:

Tell you what information we hold about you.
Correct anything that is wrong.
Delete your order record and your pet's photo from our systems, and ask our providers to do the same.
Stop a campaign that is running.

Two honest limits. Once an advertisement has been shown, we cannot un-show it to people who already saw it. And we may need to keep basic payment records even after deleting the rest, because the law requires it.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights over your information, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Use the same address and we will honour them.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies for basic site function and for anonymous analytics that tell us which pages people use. You can decline cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

If you run advertising pixels or tag managers, list them here by name. This section must match the tags actually installed.

Security

Traffic to and from this site is encrypted. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. Uploaded photos are stored with unguessable filenames in a directory configured so that no uploaded file can ever be executed as code.

No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will tell you.

Children

This service is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you are under 18, please use the service with a parent or guardian.

Links to other sites

This site links to other websites, including Facebook. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version in force is the one published here at the time. If we make a significant change to how we treat your information, we will say so prominently on the site.
